Dinner-table questions
- How did God turn Naomi’s bitter life to bring blessing to Naomi, and unfaithful Israel, and the whole world?
Ruth was kind to Naomi, Boaz was kind to the women and became their redeemer, Boaz and Ruth had a baby. Naomi had a home and a family again. King David came from this family. Even better, King Jesus came from this family. - When things don’t go our way, we might want to run away and complain, like Naomi did. But what can we remember about God? How can we show that we trust him in hard times?
We can remember that God is faithful and sovereign (in control). We can always trust His plan. In hard times, we can turn to God in prayer, and ask His people (our church family) for help.
Family activity: Lemonade chats
Buy some lemonade or even make some together. Parents, share stories from your life of how God worked in bitter times.
God doesn’t promise to make our lives easy-peasy (lemon-squeezy), but what He does promise is to be with us through the bitter and sweet times. Knowing Jesus is what’s sweeter than anything. And one day, when He makes everything new, we’ll see that God’s plan for us was always very good.
