Exodus 1-3
Big truth: God raises up a leader to deliver His people out of slavery.
Christ connection: Jesus came down to our world to deliver us from sin.
Response: Children who are patient and prayerful in difficulty, because God sees, hears, knows, and will one day make right.

Dinner-table questions
- Do you remember last week’s story? A long time passed after Joseph brought his family to Egypt (400 years!). Had God forgotten about His people? What did God say and do to show that He hadn’t forgotten them? (See Ex 3:7-10)
God saw, heard, and knew their suffering, so He sent Moses to deliver them from slavery. God the Son – Jesus – would Himself come down to deliver us from sin. - When you are going through hard times, what can you remember about God from the story today?
God sees and knows my trouble; in fact, Jesus lived in our painful world and suffered most of all. He will come again to make everything right. - What does it mean when God calls himself “I am who I am” (Ex 3:14)? How is that different from any other person in the world? Why do you think Jesus said he was the “I am”?
He is the uncreated, independent, always-and-forever God. But we are here because of Him- we exist because God created and keeps us.
Family Discipleship activity: Don’t Forget
Parent, gather a selection of random ideas (e.g. paperclip, teabag, bottle cap, sock, etc). Place them on a tray, covered with a teatowel. Tell your children that you are going to show them a tray of items for 20 seconds and that they should try to remember as many items as they can. Uncover the tray for 20 seconds, then cover the items again. Give each child paper to write down as many items as they can remember. The child who remembers the most wins!
Talk about how God never forgets, and He never needs to learn either – because He knows all things (He is omniscient). God always keeps His promises and never leaves His people! That’s good news!
