A Curtain Says “Keep Out!”

City Kids Parent Take-Home

This is the first of our lessons over Easter. We’ll be looking at The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross for the next six weeks. We’re doing things in a different order so the Easter lesson lines up but we’ll take a trip through the whole Bible.

Leviticus 16

Big truth: God is committed to being with his people. But the temple “Keep Out” curtain was a reminder that people were still separated from God.
Christ connection: Jesus is the perfect sacrifice to take away our sin!
Faith Response: Children who praise God for his faithful love.

Memory verse: Psalm 8:1 song
O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.

Over the next six weeks we’ll also be practicing the six memory verses we’ve learned since September. At the end of that there’ll be a chance to win a prize for reciting them all!

Dinner-table questions
  1. What did God do even though people had turned their backs on him?
  2. What did the temple curtain show?
Family Activity: Naming game

Play any game that involves swapping cards, tokens, and so on (for example Happy Families/Go Fish), and then talk about how God provided the goats to swap with the people to take their sins away.
