A Curtain Says “Come In!”

City Kids Parent Take-Home

Last week was Resurrection Sunday where we heard that Jesus invites us to be with Him forever. This week we went back before the Resurrection to the Cross. We saw that when Jesus died the Curtain was torn in two, from top to bottom!

Mark 15

Big truth: Jesus is God himself. God came to live among people as a man. Not only did God come to live among people as a man; he also came to make the way for people to know him and live with him for ever.
Christ connection: Jesus is the perfect sacrifice to take away our sin!
Faith Response: Children who praise God for Jesus’ death on the cross which is a history changing, life-altering moment.

Memory verse: Job 1:21b song
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away;
blessed be the name of the Lord.

Make sure to practice all the verses we’re recapping. So far we’ve relearned Psalm 8:1 and Deuteronomy 32:4

Dinner-table questions
  1. What happened when Jesus died on the cross?
  2. What did the temple curtain tearing show Jesus has done?
Family Activity: Stuck in the Mud or Freeze Tag

Play either Stuck in the Mud or Freeze Tag. Explain that this game is a little bit like how we can’t save ourselves, we need someone else to do that for us – we need Jesus!
